Edward V. Uttberg, Jr.
Ed Uttberg is the founder, owner, and Chief Executive Officer of Med Associates, Inc. Ed has spent the last 17 years successfully and profitably
building Med into a well-respected medical billing company. Ed brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to advising Med’s management
team as he continues to look for business opportunities to further Med’s place in the industry. Ed’s impressive leadership
history includes positions as previous President of Med, President of MedClaim USA, President of APA Partners, Director of Financial Services
for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Chief Financial Officer of both Blue Shield of Northeastern New York and the Capital District
Physician’s Health Plan. Ed has a vibrant history of entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to founding Med, Ed founded ClaimTech in
1993, formed MedClaim USA in 1994, purchased APA Partners in 2001, and later sold APA and ClaimTech to CDPHP. Ed graduated from Siena College
with a BBA in Business Administration. Ed is a member of the Healthcare Billing Management Association (HBMA), Medical Group Management
Association of NY (MGMA), and serves on the board of directors of Shared Health Direct.
Catherine Alvey
Cathy Alvey is the President of Med Associates, Inc. Cathy has been with the family of companies since 1997. Cathy focuses her energies on
developing and improving products and services for Med, and overseeing all aspects of financial management, accounting, daily operations,
and human resources. Cathy has notable experience in management, accounting, and financial analysis. Previously, Cathy was CFO of MedClaim
USA, Manager of Financial Reporting for both APA Partners and Partners Health Plan, and Senior Associate at Coopers & Lybrand, LLP.
Cathy holds a BBA in Accounting from Siena College and an MBA from the University of Albany. Cathy is a Certified Public Accountant and
a member of NYMGMA, HBMA, and NYSSCPA. Cathy frequently attends continuing education courses and various conferences to keep current with
issues, trends, and topics in the industry.
Peggy Lowen
Peggy Lowen is Med Associates, Inc.’s Director of Operations. Peggy’s role includes managing staffing and the facilitation of daily
operations. Peggy has been with Med for over 10 years. Her expertise and experience make her an invaluable resource for consulting, advice,
and problem solving. Peggy also serves as an account manager for several clients. Before joining Med in 1995, Peggy was a claims examiner at
Travelers, and has worked at several hospitals in a multitude of capacities including clinical, clerical, ER, and laboratory. Peggy holds a
certification in Healthcare Fraud & Abuse, and she has attended numerous other training classes in the healthcare field, including nursing
and coding. Peggy’s strong medical background and over 25 years of experience make her a considerable asset to Med’s management
team.
Tina Angrisano
Tina Angrisano is the Director of Information Systems. Tina has been with Med from its formation. Tina is the primary developer of the MedPro
billing and scheduling system. Her commitment and dedication are the foundation for many system improvements and innovations. Tina also
is fully involved in client support issues regarding the system and procedures. Her keen logic and analytical skill make her an excellent
resource for troubleshooting and problem solving. Tina coordinates the IT portion of client implementations, ensuring that clients have
the best technology and support for their business. Tina has her Associates Degree in Data Processing from Hudson Valley Community College.
Tina continues to attend various IT training courses. Prior to her employment at Med, Tina worked in the student loan department of the
Troy Savings Bank, and she spent three years serving in with the Military Police in the U.S. Army.
Eileen McCabe
Eileen McCabe is the Director of Client Relations. Eileen has been with Med since 1990. She is the principal liason between clients and Med
staff. She has experience in every aspect of the business, from account manager, IT production manager, administrative assistant, to data
entry. Eileen is one of Med’s foremost experts in the MedPro medical billing and scheduling system. Eileen acts as project manager
during client implementations. She provides onsite client training and facilitates office transitions. After the implementation, Eileen
supports the client through any problems or questions. She initiates new MedPro system features to meet client needs and client satisfaction.
Eileen provides quality assurance and control for the MedPro system. In addition, Eileen manages the monthly reporting process and handles
electronic submissions. Eileen is a frequent attendee of HBMA, Medicare, and MGMA seminars.
